I got the following info in an email from DYT:
"At the invitation of Dun Laoghaire’s Festival of World Cultures Dominic Campbell, Jean Connolly and Haf Morgan of the Natural Theatre Company have joined forces to devise "Port Whoopee!" transforming Dun Laoghaire’s Harbour Plaza into a global meeting place.
Its’ heart is the World Wide Wagon Circle, a street theatre exploration of what really happens when people try to live next to each other.
Do they;
Swap sugar or argue over awnings?
Dance cheek to cheek or plot nuclear meltdown?
Welcome visitors or demand your passport?
Speak your language? Praise your God? Eat your foods? Seduce you?
Are these the people you would like to be your neighbours?..."
So, I got in touch, and am due to start training workshops this coming week! Whoopee!
I know it's going to be very different to what I ended up doing for St Patricks Festival, (which was run by some of the same people,) but every time I think about it, I find myself getting back in to the mindset of a giant orange hermit crab, which is definately not the kind of character I'll be developing for Port Whoopee.
I can just imagine trying to get in to character to go out and perform, and then suddenly being told by fellow performers to "stop scurrying!"
