Lughnasadh

Ach, just typical....

I tried to go to the museum the other day for a talk on the pagan holiday, Lughnasadh, but alas! My plans were twarted by the very event I was hoping to celebrate! i.e. the "changing of the seasons" as I like to put it.

So basically, it rained, I got completely soaked, and couldn't go.

Yup, here comes Autumn. Ah, it sounds a bit gloomy I know, but Autumn's not so bad. Its the most colourful season of the year, and I'll look foreward to finding acorns, blackberries (I found my first blackberry already!) and running for my life when I realise I'm standing under a chestnut tree and a strong wind is blowing. (I've been hit by falling conkers before, and it can really hurt!)

I think Irish people don't know how to cope with the Summer anyway. We get so much rain and so little sunshine, that the second it's looking a bit bright, the world and his wife suddenly rush out and try to get as much of it as possible. In fact I'm willing to bet that if we had more sunshine and were used to it, there'd probably be far less cases of skin cancer in this country!

Anyway, Happy Lughnasadh everyone!
